Once they got used to it, they had to create a slide to examine the cells lining their mouths.
After scraping the inside of their cheek with a q-tip, they smeared the sample on a slide.
Then they dyed it, so the cells would be easier to see.
They looked at the cells and drew them in their lab notebooks.
